My approach to photography comes from a background in music and long-term creative collaboration. Years of touring and recording taught me how to read a room, understand performance energy, and recognize the moments where authenticity lives.

I bring that same sensitivity to my photography — whether I’m photographing musicians, artists, or everyday life. My images focus on mood, timing, and emotional rhythm rather than rigid structure. Alongside my portrait and documentary work, I explore abstraction through light and motion, treating photography as a visual form of composition.

I’m drawn to images that feel intuitive and atmospheric — photographs that don’t just show what something looks like, but what it feels like to be there.

"Dean's photography captures the unseen and showcases his subjects in creative ways. He has a talent for putting people at ease and bringing out their best. He has the unique ability to be both unobtrusive and assertive, depending on the situation."

Sam Dickinson - Jazz guitarist

“Dean's photos speak for themselves, but I believe his capacity as a musician gives his work an even greater depth, and an ability to "roll with the punches" that sets him apart from others in his field.”

R Grunwald - Composer, Musician

“Working with Dean as a photographer is a fun, relaxed, creative experience. His aesthetic is thoughtful, cool, and artful.”
